Coe’s Simon silences St. Thomas (Minn.), 3-0
PELLA, IOWA-- Coe College senior Ashlee Simon scattered seven hits as the No. 19 Kohawks blanked No. 14 St. Thomas (Minn.) 3-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Softball Pella, Iowa Regional Friday.

Coe (35-11) broke on top in the first inning as designated player Brianna Hull led off the game with a double and scored. Hull walked and scored on a single by catcher Abby Flannagan. Shortstop Sidney Ridout drove in a third run in the sixth.

St. Thomas (37-8) threatened on several occasions but stranded seven baserunners. The Tommies come back against Luther College Saturday while Coe meets Wis.-River Falls.
