Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium--track
A new eight-lane, 400-meter BSS 1000 polyurethane track was installed in time for the 2007 season. The track incorporates wider turns, dual runways for the jumping events as well as a two-way pole vault runway.
The new track features an energy-return system to produce faster times but less stress on joints so it is ideal for daily training.
“We wanted something that we'll be able to train on every day, not just a track that we use twice a year for competitions,” coach Kevin Sanger said. “It's something that is going to elevate our athletes' performances.”
Adjacent to the stadium, the college recently installed new shot put and discus rings, a new hammer throw cage and javelin staging area.
“The track and field programs have a great tradition at Central,” coach Kevin Sanger said. “Adding this new track is a big step in enhancing our facilities and demonstrating our commitment to make Central a top program, not only in the Iowa Conference but in Division III.
