Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium--Football field

A new version of the Fieldturf competition playing surface was installed for the 2006 season as part of the $2.8-million first phase of improvements t newly renovated Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium.

“We are thrilled with the changes we're making at Schipper Stadium,” football coach Jeff McMartin said. “This venue has seen many, many great games in the past and will continue to in the future.

"This field allows us even more flexibility with our great facilities. Our practice fields in most cases are already better than a lot of the game fields other teams play on, and this will give us another great place to both play games and practice."

The site of 18 NCAA Div. III football playoff games and six Iowa Conference track and field meets, the stadium opened in 1977 as A.N. Kuyper Stadium.

GROUNDBREAKING NOV. 12, 2005-- Head football coach Jeff McMartin, track and field coach Kevin Sanger, Central's track and football captains, retired football coach Ron Schipper and leaders of the college's A.N. Kuyper Stadium capital campaign took part in the groundbreaking for the stadium's new Fieldturf football field and eight-lane Balsam synthetic track. The groundbreaking followed Central's 28-6 victory over Buena Vista which gave the Dutch a share of their record 27th Iowa Conference championship.
