Why Central?
I chose Central College so I could continue my football playing days while getting my education. I had a very good recruiting experience with Coach Mac and a comfort level associated with the program. Friends and tradition also weighed into the decision.

Best class you’ve ever taken
Fitness Assessment & Exercise Prescription. The early morning time was a bummer but I found the class very interesting and learned a lot that I will use in my future. The atmosphere was also enjoyable with a lot of lab and participation.

Coolest part of Central’s exercise science program
The new Exercise Science building. Newer is better!

Dream job
To manage a big time sports arena like the United Center for the Chicago Bulls. Or to be an Athletic Director at a big time Division I college.

Favorite Central memory
2009 football season. Went 10-0 and won the conference championship with a great bunch of guys. There have also been multiple memorable lifting sessions with the team in which we came together and conquered difficult situations. And always the training camp talent shows are memorable.

The secret to great kick and punt returns
Easily the key to a great kick/punt return is the blocking of the return team. I have been fortunate to have great return guys up front that work their butts off and I want to give a shoutout to them for their hard work on a position that doesn’t get recognized. It is also essential to have a valuable wingman like Mike “The Snake” Furlong who has burners and snakes around blocking anything that moves, while also have great returns.

Person past or present you’d like to have lunch with
I’d like to have lunch with Tim Dwight because he was my role model growing up. I had the opportunity to meet him last summer and I now realize it would probably take 3 or 4 lunches because he can talk your ear off.

The best thing about this year’s team
We have a great group of guys that know how to work hard and have learned from past experiences. We are definitely not as hyped up coming into this season and I like that. The new freshman class is full of a lot of talent that I’ve seen and a more close group than usual years. Can’t wait to makes some memories and get the season underway!

Favorite football movie
“Remember the Titans” is a solid pick….. And you can never go wrong with “Rudy.”

What most people don’t know about the football coaches
That they’re committed to being different than normal coaches and pride themselves on coaching in a respectful way. One thing that many people don’t know is our coaches rarely say curse words when addressing players, which is actually uncommon in college football. I don’t know how they do it because I love me some curse words when on a rant, but they restrain and act professionally always. They are also a close group of men that have been part of the Central tradition for so long that there are numerous stories between them all that provide entertainment.

Can’t live without…
This is easy, chicken breast and BBQ sauce, a necessity to every meal. And obviously with our technology-rich society today with endless amounts of social networks I need my blackberry.

Favorite part of practice
I’d have to go with 1-on-1’s versus the defensive backs. It’s always a battle and opportunity to man up and make yourself better. They get pretty heated sometimes and Adam Petz has even been known to cry sometimes afterwards….. Not really, but he does hold a lot.

Singer or group (dead or alive) you’d pick to see in concert
I would love to see rapper Nelly live back in the “Country Grammar” days. Grew up on that CD back in middle school.

Pre-game ritual or habit
I always go throw the football around with QB Nate Snead and talk about recent events and life. It creates a calm atmosphere while also warming up the hands.

Why you love Central football
Tradition, teammates, and love for the game, ‘nuff said. Plus, I’m getting tired of typing.

Bucket list
Sky diving, live in a big city for a period of time, participate in a triathlon, probably should get a girlfriend someday, have a job that I thoroughly enjoy, and have children.

Thanks, and please come support the Central Dutch Football team!
