Hometown: Independence, Minn.

High School: Orono

Why Central?
I chose Central because on my visit I had a great time with the baseball team and I didn’t want to go to school in Minnesota.

You are majoring in Business Management and minoring in Spanish because…
When I was 10, I realized I "might not" become a professional athlete, so as a backup plan I have always wanted to be a banker. I really like interacting with people and I am interested in business/finance. I minored in Spanish because it comes naturally to me, and with the growing percentage of Spanish speaking people, I thought it would be helpful.

Who is your favorite professor?
Professor Birru. He always has something witty and funny to say and I’ve enjoyed all the classes I’ve taken with him.

What is your favorite Central College memory?
The Lemming Race every year, by far.

What do you love most about being a member of the Central Dutch baseball team?
Our team is like a big family. The relationships we have will last long after college.

What did it mean to you to be named co-captain of this year’s team?
It was a huge honor. In the past, I have always looked up to the captains, so it was an honor to be named a captain.

More exciting: win (as starting pitcher) or save (as closer)?
Save. Every time you go in the game as a closer it’s a big situation and everyone is on their feet.

Bigger accomplishment: no-hitter or 20-strikeout game?
20-strikeout game. I’ve thrown a no-hitter but never had a 20-strikeout game.

Baseball is a superstitious sport; what is one of your pregame rituals?
It’s tough to pick just one. I eat a turkey sandwich before every start and before I throw my first pitch I say a prayer on the back of the mound.

What is one thing people do not know about new assistant coach Jordan DeGeorge?
He loves country music.

What is your favorite baseball team?
The Twins, even though they’re terrible. I’ve been to so many games, it is a really fun atmosphere and they’re my hometown team.

Who is your favorite baseball player of all-time?
Clayton Kershaw and Joe Mauer. I like Joe because he stayed in Minnesota and he’s about the only good thing about the Twins. I like how Kershaw throws and that he always wants the ball in his hand.

Should Barry Bonds’ career home run record have an asterisk next to it?
It should have an asterisk next to it. He cheated. Pete Rose bet on a game and got kicked out of baseball.

When you go to the ballpark, what is the one concession stand item you have to buy?
When the Twins still played at the Metrodome, I always got a Dome Dog. It’s just a big hot dog.

What is your favorite activity to do in your free time?
Fishing. It’s relaxing and it’s a way for me to get away.

Who is the one person, past or present, that you’d like to have lunch with?
Ronald Reagan. He was a great leader of our nation and someone I have looked up to.

What is one thing you want out of your senior season?
To win the Iowa Conference and go to the NCAA tournament.

Bucket list (list items that you want to do/accomplish in your life)
Visit every major league park
See the World Series
Own every team’s hat (college and MLB)
Drive on the Autobahn
Go to an Avicii concert
