Why Central?
I wanted to go far away from home and experience living in the Midwest on my own, being from San Diego, California. Central presented me with the opportunity to get a great education and be able to play soccer, as well as being able to study abroad in a well-known program.

Who is your favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor is Sam Mate-Kodjo in the Spanish department because I had him for the first couple of years here at Central and he was great at integrating stories of his experiences into the curriculum. Sometimes he would go off topic, which made things interesting.

You are majoring in Business/Spanish because…
I really love Spanish and want to use it in the business world and potentially do international business. Both of my parents work in the business world for Jack in the Box and I think it would be cool to work for a company like that.

What is your favorite Central memory?
Going to Spain to study abroad for a semester with my best buddies Daniel Peacock and Dillon Thornbury, as well as all the trips we do for soccer when we travel for away games.

What do you love most about being a member of the Central Dutch men’s soccer team?
I love that I have a solid group of friends that I can eat meals with or study with or do whatever around campus with. We are basically a large family of brothers and it is nice to know that all of the guys have my back just like I have theirs. I love being able to represent Central College and play the sport I love.

How does it feel to be a captain of this year’s team?
It is a huge honor since it was my fellow teammates who voted me captain. I am excited about the responsibility and partnership with my roommate, Daniel Peacock, who is the other captain!

What was the most exciting part of this past season?
The most exciting part was our playoff run we had in the Iowa Conference tournament and it being the first time in our program’s history that we made it to the finals. We won the quarterfinal in penalty kicks and the semi final in extra time and only lost the final by one goal to the No. 4 ranked team in the nation.

What is your favorite activity to do in your free time and why?
I really enjoy playing FIFA or Halo with my roommates or just hanging out and watching movies or seasons of different TV shows.

What is your favorite soccer team (MLS or international)?
Manchester United, Granada CF and Los Angeles Galaxy.

Which is correct: soccer or fútbol?
Fútbol is correct because it is the term used across the world and we play the sport with our feet.

Teammate most likely to make it as a NFL kicker and why…
Aleksandar Glavas because he has the hardest shot on the team and he can hit a long ball further than Dillon Thornbury.

Who is one person, past or present, that you’d like to have lunch with and why?
I would have lunch with David Beckham because he could give me some pointers when it comes to soccer and maybe some pointers when it comes to the ladies. He also is trying to become a MLS owner, which would definitely be the dream job, so he might have some business insight, as well.

“This season I hope that…”
I stay injury free and am able to lead this group of guys back to the championship game and take that extra step and win the Iowa Conference championship and get a berth in the national tournament.
