Hometown: Grundy Center, Iowa
High School: Grundy Center
The atmosphere at Central is phenomenal. The people within the Central community have so much pride and I knew it was just something I had to be a part of.
Who is your favorite professor and why?
Professor Andy Campbell because he isn’t only my professor, he is my mentor and has done a multitude of things to help me become as successful as possible. This goes for all professors at Central, though. They love to see their students succeed and it is awesome to be a part of such a wonderful college.
You are majoring in Business because…
Before coming to Central, all I really wanted to do was farm. I then began to realize that farming didn’t have to be my only option, so I thought, “I’m a people person, why not try business?” In pursuing my degree, I have found that I will be able to make the largest impact as an individual with a business degree.
What is your favorite Central memory?
The time spent training with the football team and/or every Saturday in the fall. I could tell you about every single game in my four years here because of the excitement that is felt when stepping out onto the field.
What do you love most about being a member of the Central Dutch football team?
The best thing is the relationships that I’ve made through the journey. They are the reason that my Central experience has been so great, and these relationships will last a long, long time after my career at Central is over.
What is the best part about being an offensive lineman?
We’re the best looking players on the team. We’re a very exclusive group and many wish they could be an offensive lineman for the Central Dutch. And besides all that, it’s great to be an offensive lineman because the coaches challenge us in season and out of season to become mentally and physically tough. We are a tight group that sticks together and I am very proud to be a part of it.
Why do you wear #73?
It was the number given to me my freshman year and I decided it was the number for me. Pretty simple but it’s the truth.
What is your favorite activity to do in your free time and why?
I enjoy snowmobiling in northern Wisconsin/Michigan. The freedom you feel when it’s just you, nature and your snowmobile is quite the rush.
What is your favorite NFL team and why?
The Packers because they have a great tradition and Brett Favre is/was my hero.
Who is your favorite NFL player and why?
Brett Favre will always be my favorite, but for current players, I love watching Clay Matthews and Matt Kalil. Matthews at outside linebacker and Kalil at left tackle both set the standard for their positions across the NFL. They are great athletes and a ton of fun to watch.
You were once recognized as “funniest person on the team” by Jason Breon; who is second funniest?
There are a lot of guys on the team that make me laugh, but the duo that makes me laugh the most is Spencer Matlock and Jason Breon. Those two together can make me laugh so hard it hurts.
Who is the one person, past or present, that you’d like to have lunch with and why?
Jesus. He’s the most influential person in the world. There are so many things that I would ask him. One lunch wouldn’t be nearly long enough because I would never want the conversation to end.
“This season I hope that…”
I don’t “hope.” This season I “KNOW” we will win an Iowa Conference championship.
