Hometown: Seymour, Iowa

High School: Seymour

Why Central?
Everyone says this I am sure, but I chose Central because it simply felt like the best school that I visited. I was also a big fan of the athletic programs here.

Best class you’ve taken and why
My favorite class I have taken here at Central is probably physical geography with Anya Butt. I simply enjoyed everything about the class; it was interesting.

You’re majoring in environmental science because…
Honestly I did not know what I wanted to do even up to the beginning of my sophomore year. Outside of the health and exercise science programs environmental studies was the most interesting.

Favorite Central memory…
I am not sure if I can pick out just one memory. But my best of friends were on the track team with me, and the stuff that we have accomplished together means a lot to me.

Coolest thing about being a national champion
I’m not sure how to answer this…I am proud of myself and the people who prepared me as an athlete to be able to accomplish this. The coolest thing to me is just having the privilege to compete.

Artist or group, past or present, you’d pick to see in concert
I am a 90’s guy. Almost every genre of music in the 90’s is amazing.

Best reason to visit Seymour, Iowa
The people, they are all so nice and welcoming. Oh and if you want to catch an 8-man football game!

Toughest event in the decathlon and why
The toughest event in the decathlon for me is the darn shot put! I think it just frustrates me most because I am plenty strong, and I know how to throw it. I just don't do it well in meets. Besides that I would say the decathlon is the best challenge someone could step up to.

The best part about competing in an NCAA national meet
The national meets are just sweet. I like to be there just to see how well everyone does and the crazy fast times……and the girls

The thing you like best about your team
My team is my family. I get to run with my best friends and support them and be supported. I just like stepping on the track with them. They are 80% of the reason I come out. Its not like any other team sport, no one gets mad or down on anyone. Its just fun!

Teammate most likely to win “American Idol”
Oh My! Trevor Veach might be the best darn singer I have ever heard

Word or phrase you use too often…

Plans after track season
My plans after track it to take it easy for a while and not rush into the real world ;) I am, however, going to train hard for the next 4 years and see what my chances are for RIO DE. Just a Dream I have, and I want to chase it

Ritual or habit before a meet..
I don’t really have a habit or ritual before my meet. I just make sure I eat well all week, and get a good night sleep two nights before the day I compete.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a coach
The best advice I have received from a coach was towards the classroom. If I wanted to see success, I needed to work hard off the track as well. And It turned out to be the truth.

Person past or present you’d like to have lunch with
Ooolala, If I could have lunch with anyone I would say LOLO Jones. (she might be my soul mate..she just doesn’t know it) but in seriousness I would like to have lunch with ROMAN SEBRULE. He is the world record holder in the decath, and I want to know some secrets!

Bucket list
Have a wife and some kids
Base jump the St Louis Arch
Make it to a big time track meet
Purchase the original general lee
Own my own airplane
Backflip a dirtbike
Do research on Tigers in the Himalayas
Ill keep it short and sweet.
