Why Central?
I really liked the study abroad program and Central is somewhat of a tradition in my family, my sister just graduated this year and my dad is an alum as well.

Best class you’ve taken and why
Global Sustainability with Dr. Zaffiro. As a political science/history major I would obviously love any class in my major disciplines, but this was by far my favorite. I’m a vegetarian for the most part out of season for environmental purposes and the class was all about international environmental policy ranging from poverty alleviation to cutting down emissions in various states. My favorite part was the ‘blog’ we made and going back and forth with Dr. Zaffiro about various issues I care about.

You’re majoring in political science and history because…
I like the idea that we can change the world around us. With my history major I learn about people in the past that were able to make a difference and with my political science major I learn about how to do it now through government policy. Hopefully when I’m done at Central I’ll be able to go to law school and use that degree to help make a difference.

Favorite Central memory
My first day at Central my freshman year I met my now best friend Katie Krebs at the freshman bonfire and it was warm so for some reason Katie and I thought we should put our feet in the pond. We got up to the edge and Jack Shipley, who I went to high school with, pushed us in and for the rest of orientation we were known as ‘The Pond Girls’.

The thing you like best about your team
I really like how there are mini teams within our team; there’s the throwers, distance, mid-distance, multis, sprinters, jumpers, men, women, upperclassmen, and underclassmen, but we still find a way to come together and have a good time, usually competing well at the same time too.

In your iPod
Ke$ha, Matt & Kim, Coldplay, The Ting Tings, and lots of Britney Spears

The secret to great handoffs
Knowing that you have to push handoffs in order to get the fastest times and sometimes in the process of doing that you’ll have some bad ones.

Favorite part of practice
When its over. The feeling you get after completing one of the hardest workouts of the season is pretty great.

Top travel destination, past or present
Real or fiction is the real question… Cause it's Hogwarts, the real one, but I guess I would settle for one of the amusement park versions.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a coach
Coach Mosher’s ‘trust the training’ speech.

Summer plans
Working at Upward Bound here at Central and then relaxing until I leave for study abroad in Merida this fall.

Funniest person on the team and why
I can’t narrow it down to just one, the men of Pod 220 are definitely the funniest. Tyler Crouse, Allen Scovel, Phil Miller, Treavor Veech, Ethan Miller, and Kyle Wood are always up to something.

Dream job
Ask me in a couple years.

Best part of having your sister on the team
She usually tells my parents what’s going on with the meets and what I’m running so if I forget to call them, they know what’s going on.

Favorite TV show
Parks and Recreation, I just took State and Local Politics, which makes the inner workings of Pawnee, the greatest town in America, even funnier.

What most people don’t know about the track and field coaches
Coach Dunham is six degrees from some pretty powerful people and Coach George listens to some interesting Spanish music in the middle of the night when he thinks all of us in the car are sleeping.

Person past or present you’d like to have lunch with
John F. Kennedy, I’m sorta obsessed with him as a person more than as a president.

Bucket list
Visit every state and the seven wonders of the world, become a gypsy, and get elected to political office.
