When I started visiting schools, my parents told me that I’d find a school that “would just feel right.” From the very first time I set foot on this campus until the present day, everything from the professors, classes, and athletics has convinced me that Central was the right choice.
Your favorite professor and why
Though I’ve only had the opportunity to take one of his classes, I would have to say Mark Mills. His teaching techniques and down-to-Earth personality made his class one of my most enjoyable.
Favorite Central memory
The countless late nights spent building campfires and catfishing with friends and teammates out at Lake Red Rock.
You’re majoring in exercise science because…
I heard about the exercise science program when I first discovered Central and wanted to find out more about it. I took a few different classes and declared my sophomore year as an Exercise Science Health Promotion major. I knew from day one that I wanted to stay involved with athletics and/or a health-related field for the rest of my life, and Central’s Exercise Science program has set me up to do just that!
Person past or present you’d like to have lunch with
My grandpa Havens. Golf has been a huge part of my life, and he taught my father things that he has passed down to my brother and I over the years. I was just 7 years old when he passed away, so the opportunity to chat with him just one more time would mean a lot.
The thing you love about golf
As I mentioned earlier, I want to be able to stay involved with athletics for as long as I can. Golf’s one of the few sports, if not the only sport that you can play throughout your entire life. That aspect alone is why I love the game as much as I do.
Your favorite movie
Days of Thunder…hands down.
Your first CD
I’m not exactly sure which one my parents got me first, but I know it was either one by Hanson, The Backstreet Boys, or Nsync.
“I think Bos Landen is …”
One of the toughest courses around. This is my fourth year playing it and I still don’t have it figured out. From the rolling hills to the lightning-fast greens, Bos Landen is a course that requires your A-game every time out.
What most people don’t know about Coach Green
He played professional golf in Arizona before becoming a collegiate golf coach.
Favorite pro golfer
He was always my favorite growing up, and even though he attracted a lot of negative attention over the last few years, I still cheer for Tiger. There’s never a dull moment once he steps on the tee.
Best course you’ve ever played
Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona.
Golf ritual, habit or superstition
I always play a Titleist golf ball during tournaments, either a #2 or #4. Nothing else. If I’m out playing for fun, I’ll play just about anything.
Toughest part of practice
Practicing with a purpose, each and every session. You want to be able to transfer your game from the range to the course, so it’s important to approach each practice session with a purpose.
Funniest person on the team
Our Assistant Coach, Clint Brown...or “CB” as we call him. If he ever gets tired of his current job, I seriously believe he’d do well in stand-up comedy!
Your favorite book
I’d have to say any of the Harry Potter books. J.K. Rowling really knows how to capture your attention.
Go to the Masters in Augusta, Georgia
Win the lottery
Get my pilots license
Take a few laps in my uncle’s stock car
