Join us for a social event in Iowa City, Friday , June 6, the first day of th e2008 Iowa Arts Festival. Hors d'oeuvres with a cash bar will be available at the Sheraton Hotel, 210 S. Dubuque St., from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The Iowa Arts Festival features live entertainment all evening in the Pedestrian Mall located right outside of the Sheraton. Perfromers include the Mike and Amy Finders Band at 6 p.m., Tim O'Brien at 7 p.m., and the Sam Bush Band at 9 p.m. Bands are sponsored by the Iowa City Summer of the Arts and are family friendly. Men's Basketball Golf Outing—Mark you calendar for the fifth Annual Hoops Open Golf Tournament at Pella's Bos Landen Golf Course, Thursday, June 12. It will be an 18-hole, four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There was be contests throughout the day including longest drive, longest putt and others. A buffet dinner, raffle and silent auction will follow the golf outing in the conference center at approximately 6 p.m. Even if you are unable to play golf, please join us for dinner. Join Central College alumni and friends at a social reception at Dressel’s Historic Welsh Pub, 419 N. Euclid Ave., in St. Louis, Wednesday, June 18, from 3–7 p.m. John Roslien, athletic training program director and associate professor of exercise science, will host the event along with Central’s athletic training staff. The reception is being held in conjunction with the National Athletic Trainers Association annual symposium in St. Louis. All Central alumni are welcome to attend. Central College will spend an evening at the I-Cubs, in Des Moines, Thursday, July 10. A picnic with all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, potato salad and soda begins at the Butter Kernel Corner picnic area, down the 3rd base side of Principal Park, 2nd and Riverside Dr., at 5:45 p.m. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. Cost for the meal, reserved ticket to the game and I-Cubs hat (one size) is $21 for adults, $11 for children ages 4-10 and free for children ages three and under. Payment in advance is required. RSVP to the alumni office by Monday, June 30. Tickets will be under your name and Central College at the Will Call window, which is window #4. You must have a ticket to enter the picnic area.
