Soon after high school graduation, thoughts turn toward your first semester at Central. What will living in a residence hall really be like? What courses will you take? During summer orientation you will meet with an academic adviser, discuss options for courses and select a group of classes for your fall semester. In addition, you will meet new friends and get a picture of what life at Central is all about.

Academic advising

If you're interested in getting a head-start on the academic advising and course scheduling processes that we'll deal with during orientation, we're here to offer you some help. You may need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

An Introduction to Academic Life at Central College (2008 version will be available soon!)- This is a primary resource that we'll use during orientation to help you learn about 1) Central's curriculum and our academic requirements, 2) about the academic advising process, and 3) about special academic programs you might be eligible for or required to participate in.

Central College Catalog - The Catalog is the official document outlining all academic programs and policies, and has information about all academic majors, course descriptions in all academic departments, etc. We'll also be using the catalog during orientation, so being a bit familiar with it ahead of time would be helpful.

AP, CLEP, Transfer Credit
Please bring any information or records you have regarding college-level credit you have earned via the Advance Placement Program (AP), College-level Education Program (CLEP), or through another college or university.
