Placement Exams
Why take placement exams?
Your placement exam results, along with your high school coursework and academic major plans help you and your advisor determine the most appropriate level at which you should begin math and/or language study at Central. Your result on a placement exam helps guide course registration but it is not the sole indicator of which class you should take. Faculty advisors will help you determine your best course of action during registration.
Who needs to take placement exams?
Math: All incoming first-year students must take a math placement exam.
Language: Any incoming first-year student who has taken more than two years of Spanish, French, or German in high school must take the language placement exam in that language.
