Placement tests are optional for incoming transfer students. If you have taken two or more years of Spanish, French, or German in high school and will not be transferring in language credit, you can take the language placement exams. Please contact Alicia O'Brien and she will send you the necessary log in information.
All incoming first-year students must take a math placement exam.
For the language placement exam:
Any incoming first-year student who has taken more than two years of Spanish, French, or German in high school must take the language placement exam in that language.
What is my deadline for taking placement exams?
All first year-students should complete placement exams no later than June 15, 2009.
Ready to take the exam?
Incoming first-year students can access the math and language placement exams through go.central.edu
or at https://www.central.edu/admission/orientation/placement/index.cfm (you will need your student ID to log in through this site).
For the math placement test, you should allow 45-60 minutes.
For the language (French, German, and/or Spanish) you should allow 30-45 minutes.
Once you start the exam, you must take the exam in its entirety. The exam does not allow you to save your work to begin again later.
Your placement exam results, along with your high school coursework and academic major plans help you and your advisor determine the most appropriate level at which you should begin math and/or language study at Central. Your result on a placement exam helps guide course registration but it is not the sole indicator of which class you should take. Faculty advisors will help you determine your best course of action during registration.
If you are experiencing technical difficulties while logging into or taking your placement exam, or if you have lost your go.central.edu login information, please contact the Admission Office at 1-877-462-3687 or admission@central.edu .
