If you are wondering what to bring (and what not to bring) with you to campus, the list below should help!
This list has been compiled by students who've already made the transition, but is in no way comprehensive. Likewise, it is not necessarily recommended that you bring all of these things either. Once you get your roommate assignment (mid-July), it's a good idea to discuss with your roommate what you plan to bring to avoid duplication of the big items (like TV's, fridge, futons, etc.).
Things To Bring
The Basic Necessities
- Bed sheets (twin, extra long), pillow case
- Mattress pad
- Blankets, bed spread/comforter
- Pillows
- Towels and washcloths
- Alarm clock
Home Decor
- Television (coaxial cable for wall hookup)
- Computer (hookup supplies will be available in the college bookstore)
- Crates (storage)
- Posters (poster adhesive)
- Door memo board
- Entertainment center/ stereo
- Lamps (standing and desk/clip-on – no halogen)
- Carpet or rug
- Outlet strips/power strips with surge protectors
Recreation and other supplies you can't live without
- Refrigerator (4.8 cubic feet or less)
- Leisure reading material
- Plates, bowls, silverware, glasses
- Athletic equipment (gloves, balls, etc.)
- Camera, film
- Gym bag, backpack, racquets
School Supplies
- Calendar/day planner
- Calculator
- Pens, pencils, erasers, white out

Things Not To Bring
For the health, safety and well being of all, it is necessary that some items be restricted from possession or use in the Central College residence halls. These items are as follows:
- Electric skillets, hotplates or other items with exposed heating coils
- Refrigerators over 4.8 cubic feet in size or drawing more than 1.5 amps
- Guns, knives and other items that can or are considered to be weapons (this includes paint ball guns)
- Microwaves, which draw more than 5.8 amps or exceed 700 watts
- Fireworks
- Pets (other than fish)
- Loft kits (homemade or purchased) - Central provides these!
- Extension cords (thin brown and/or white)
- Candles and incense
- Halogen lamps
- Tape, thumbtacks, nails intended for hanging wall items
- Space heaters
