Summer 2008 Dates and Fees
Dates: July 1-30
Credits: 6
Program Fee: $3585

Students of all levels are welcome on our four-week French language and culture immersion program in Paris, France. Paris is a city steeped in culture and tradition. Summer in Paris is a wonderful opportunity to discover café life, do your homework in the Luxemburg or Tuileries Gardens or just sit by the Seine and reflect about Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame. Paris is also an ideal hub for traveling to the rest of Europe.

Courses
Students will learn or improve their French and develop an understanding and appreciation for the history, culture and language of Paris. All French language classes are taught by native speakers at the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP). The language school of the ICP has been teaching French to international students since 1948. Located in the heart of Paris, you will be in class just blocks from the famous Luxembourg Gardens!

Also, in Paris, Central College Abroad students may take advantage of tutoring from a local staff member and native French language speaker at the Central College Abroad center, located at a prime location in the fifth district. It is easy walking distance to and from your classes, located just off of the famed Boulevard St. Michel. This popular gathering spot for CCA students includes computers with Internet access, wireless Internet, a classroom, library and lounge.

Housing and Meals
Students are lodged in French student residence halls in the city. Breakfast is included, but the remainder of your meals are on your own. Most summer residence halls are found in the fifth district near the Luxemburg Gardens, fourth district near Notre Dame or eighth district near the Champs-Elysées.

Excursions
Excursions are also a part of the program, and are designed to bring your classroom to life. Possible trips include: Chartre, Versailles and various cultural visits within the city including la Comédie française (theatre) and a tour of Paris on the Seine River. Also plan to enjoy walking tours of Paris neighborhoods such as Montmartre and the Latin Quarter as well as visits to the Musée d'Orsay, the Paris Opera, the Louvre and the Picasso museums.

“My experience within French culture has given me a greater appreciation for the differences in the way people live. I love the culture here, and I can't imagine learning about another culture any other way than living within it.”
