Student housing in Paris is very different from that at American colleges and universities—as is student life. There are no campus dorms, for example, and most foyers are established to provide a safe, quiet and affordable environment in which to live and study. Central College program students are assigned rooms in these students foyers; typically no more than three program students are assigned to a given residence. In each foyer, the residents are French and/or international students. Opportunities to meet, interact and speak French with other students abound; program students should expect to take the initiative rather than building relationships through a dorm-like social network.
The facilities and amenities vary among the different foyers. Some program students take breakfast and dinner in the residence; others will not have a meal plan (a partial credit or refund is made to the program fee) but do have access to kitchen and dining areas in their foyer. Student status grants access to the many inexpensive restaurants universitaires (Resto-Us) located throughout the city.
