Established in 1973, Central's London program combines diverse academic opportunities and quality internship placements for a unique learning experience. Students can select from Central's own course options, taught by expert local faculty, as well as courses from affiliated institutions. Most students also do an internship or a service-learning project, enhancing their stay with the unique social experience of working alongside Londoners and other Brits.
Each semester the London program is delighted to welcome a diverse student population, with backgrounds in art, business, sciences, politics, theatre, law, etc. There is truly something for everyone!
Each of CCA 's international sites has an on-site program director, who is there to advise students during the academic experience, to orient them to the host city, to lead excursions, among many other things. All CCA directors also teach a hands-on seminar, where students learn about the host city and then experience it firsthand. London's on-site director, Eric Sneddon, has been the director in London since 2001.
Vandon House, Westminster, is Central's home in London. Students live alongside other students in the CCA London program. Vandon House is in a very safe area and within a few minute's walk from such attractions as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and Parliament! The flat is equipped with a computer lab, wireless internet, kitchen, TVs and telephones.
All students take a required course, British Experience Seminar, a hands-on course where students examine and discuss their own experiences in Britain. The course is supplemented with group and individual excursions to explore various aspects of British culture.
CCA London is known nationally for its internship program. Most students on the London program work at an internship one to three days each week. Over 100 internships (offered for credit only) are available to students. CCA London even has a full-time internship coordinator on staff to help students find a placement that suits their personal and professional goals.
