In Leiden, students have a choice between two housing options, Smaragdlaan and Hugo de Grootstraat. Smaragdlaan is international student housing that offers double rooms on self-contained units (flats) which have a kitchen, bath and toilet facilities, and a balcony. There are laundry facilities but no common room/area. Smaragdlaan is located near the Leiden University sports facilities and is approximately a 25 minute bicycle ride from the Central College facilities. There is a bus stop directly in front of the building which connects to the city center (where Central College is located), train station, etc.
Hugo de Grootstraat, another international student housing option, offers single rooms in a dorm-like setting. There are shared bath and toilet facilities for each floor as well as a shared kitchen which offers each student a locked cupboard space. Hugo de Grootstraat offers laundry facilities in the building, as well as a common room on every floor. The historic building is within a 10 minute walk of the Central College facilities. There is no meal plan for either housing option and the cost of meals is not included in the program fee.
