The aim of this course is to develop a critical awareness of Shakespeare on the modern British stage. The course centers on live performances and involves consideration of all the practical components of live theatre. Lectures include information about Shakespeare's career and the social, historical and theatrical contexts of the plays. Occasional lectures are given by actors and directors. A lab fee is charged in London to cover the cost of approximately 10 theatre tickets and is due by the first week of classes.
