Wales is waiting for you…there is no other place like it...
Every Central College Abroad program boasts a resident director who plays a unique role in students' experience. Directors provide academic advising, teach a hands-on seminar, where students learn about the host city and then experience it first hand, and lead the cultural excursions connected to the seminar class. Central College Abroad takes pride in the personalized attention that it can provide students.
Tecwyn Vaughan Jones
Tecwyn Vaughan Jones, the resident director in Bangor, was born in the small town of Blaenau Ffestiniog (a Welsh mouthful you’ll soon get used to) in the heart of the Snowdonia Mountains. The national park is literally in Tecwyn’s backyard, and he loves showing students the hills and cliffs he knows by heart.
Other than hiking and hillwalking in Snowdonia, Tecwyn’s specialty is Welsh folklore, another passion he shares with his students. He worked for 15 years at the National Museum of Wales and taught grad studies in folklore at Cardi University. Before becoming resident director for the CCA program in 2000, Tecwyn served as director of the Celtic Heritage Center in Machynlleth.
As the resident director, Tecwyn facilitates personal growth and learning by offering on-site support, academic advising and a complete on-site orientation to the host city and country.
