Bamboo CarverWhy CCA in Hangzhou?

Hangzhou is located in East China, a spot many Chinese consider to be heaven on Earth. The city is surrounded by mountains and near the East China Sea, so prepare to be amazed at the beauty of this special spot. You'll find it easy to navigate your environs with Hangzhou's excellent public transportation. With West Lake just a 15-minute walk from campus, and your classroom just minutes away from the dorms, getting around is very convenient and conducive to individual exploration.

This unique program offers intensive language courses, plus a variety of courses in English – making it an option for students both with and without prior knowledge of the Chinese language. Immerse yourself in Chinese language and culture — you'll be amazed at how quickly your Chinese skills will advance as a student in the CCA program. And one of the added benefits through CCA 's program are the small tutoring sessions and a cross-cultural orientation course, both of which are included in the program fee. Whether you have little or no Chinese language experience to fluency in Chinese, this program provides opportunities for you. China's rapidly developing economy make this an ideal time for you to experience firsthand the transitions and development of modern China through study abroad.

Each of CCA 's international sites has an on-site program director, who is there to advise students during the academic experience, to orient them to the host city, to lead excursions, among many other things. All CCA directors also teach a hands-on seminar, where students learn about the host city and then experience it. China's on-site director, Li Min, has been the director in Hangzhou since 2006.

Live in Zhejiang University's international college residence hall, a modern facility very close to your classrooms. Students live comfortably in single or double rooms. A meal stipend is included in your program fee and can be used at one of the many college cafeterias or in local restaurants. And one of the newest additions is the opportunity to learn to cook traditional Chinese food in the CCA center, a skill you can take with you after your stay in China.

The CCA center in Hangzhou is located just within 20 minutes from your residence hall. This popular gathering spot for CCA students includes a seminar room, computer lab, lounge and kitchen. Best of all, you will meet at the CCA center for small-group tutorials that provide language support as you begin rapidly learning and improving your Chinese language skills. CCA adds these private tutoring opportunities to help you successfully interact both in the classroom and in the course of daily life.
