Course Reserves
Library Reserves Service promotes quick, easy and equal
access to materials required for course work or campus
information.
Physical items such as books, DVDs, or print copies of articles may be placed on reserve at the Circulation Desk and made available for check-out. The library also offers electronic reserves (e-reserves), when available, to make articles or book chapters available online.
The Geisler Library Course Reserves Policy was adopted in July, 2007 to ensure fair and equitable access to materials as well as compliance with publishers' license agreements and copyright law. All users should review this policy. Any questions about our policy or procedures for handling reserves may be directed to the Library Director.
Information for Faculty:
- Please complete a Reserves Request Form in order to place materials on reserve for your classes. These are available at the Library Circulation Desk. An online form is coming soon!
- Electronic Reserves is an efficient way to distribute materials to your students utilizing our Blackboard course management system. Please consult with Lana Goodrich,
Circulation Supervisor (628-5219) for more information about e-reserves.
- In compliance with our Course Reserves Policy, the library reserves the right to place limits on how many items may be placed on reserve for a single class. Don't forget that your students may benefit from looking things up and finding materials in the library on their own.
Information for Students:
-
Reserve materials must be checked out from the
Circulation Desk. Even if you're just going to make a quick photocopy, you still need to bring your ID card and check things out.
- Please return Reserve items to the Circulation Desk to make sure you don't accrue any overdue fines. Please don't put Reserves in the book drops downstairs!
-
Items on Reserve have very short loan periods and are not renewable. Overdue fines will be applied if items aren't return on time! Loan periods will vary depending on the item:
-
2 hours (or overnight if checked out less than 2 hours before closing)
