| There are two technologies you can use to connect to your data from off campus: WebDAV and FTP. Below you will find directions for both WebDAV and FTP. You can hover your mouse over a link to view an image related to that step. Clicking on a link will display the full size image in a new window. |

| WebDAV (Recommended) |
| WebDAV is recommended because it utilizes a secure connection to the server. You can also use WebDAV anywhere you have Internet access. |

Windows XP / 2000 - Create a new network place
- Open My Network Places - My Network Places can be found in the following locations depending on your operating system
- On the Start menu
- On the Desktop
- In My Computer on the "Other Places" menu on the left
- Click on Add a network place
- Select "choose another network location"
- For the network location enter the appropriate path below replacing username with your Central College username
- When prompted for a user name and password enter your Central College username and password
- Give your new network place a name
- Copy your network place to the desktop (optional)
Windows XP / 2000 - Open directly in Internet Explorer
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on File | Open
- In the Open: box enter the appropriate path below replacing username with your Central College username
- Check the "Open as Web Folder" box and then click OK
- When prompted for a user name and password enter your Central College username and password
Mac OS X
- Select the Connect to Server command from the Finder or press Command K
- For the server address enter the appropriate path below replacing username with your Central College username
- If you are prompted to verify the certificate, click Continue
- When prompted for a user name and password enter your Central College username and password
Note: If you are prompted for your username and password repetitively, usually when accessing DropFolders, please read this article.
- You should now have a new mount on your desktop

| FTP |
| FTP can be used to access your data, but your username and password will not be sent securely. For this reason we encourage you to use WebDAV whenever possible. |

Using a web browser like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari
- In the address bar enter the appropriate path below replacing username with your Central College username
- Student H drive: ftp://acad3.central.edu/students/username
- Faculty H drive: ftp://acad3.central.edu/faculty/username
- Dropfolders: ftp://acad3.central.edu/dropfolders
- When prompted for a user name and password enter your Central College email address (username@central.edu) and password
Using an FTP program
- In the server name box enter the appropriate name below
- Student H drive / Faculty H drive / Dropfolders: acad3.central.edu
- For the remote start folder enter the appropriate path below replacing username with your Central College username
- Student H drive: /students/username
- Faculty H drive: /faculty/username
- Dropfolders: /dropfolders
- When prompted for a user name and password enter your Central College email address (username@central.edu) and password
