How to connect your Macintosh to the Internet from your residence hall room

 

  1. Using a Cat5 cable, connect your computer to the ethernet jack on the wall.  (Do not attempt to use a telephone or modem cable.)
  2. From the Apple menu, pull down to Control Panels
  3. Select AppleTalk    
  4. Select Connect via… Ethernet

 

 

  1. Close the AppleTalk window and select Save
  2. From the Apple menu, pull down to Controls Panels again
  3. Select TCP/IP
  4. Connect via…Ethernet
  5. Configuration is Using DHCP Server
  6. The DHCP client ID is your username.  The Search domain is central.edu

 

 

  1. Close the TCP/IP window and select Save
