Student Learning and Development Council (SLDC)
Summary report of meeting activity Sept. 21-Oct. 14
The SLDC has continued its discussions regarding implementation of the Strategic Plan. Specifically, the council is addressing means by which appropriate administrators, faculty and campus governance bodies are assigned implementation and assessment responsibilities for plan strategies. SLDC members also are conducting an audit of those strategies already implemented that lead toward fulfillment of the four primary goals of the plan.
Student representation on faculty and college-wide committees was discussed in the context of concerns raised by some faculty about such representation. The council also discussed and declined to offer institutional support for the “Darple” Web service.
The most recent SLDC meeting was a joint meeting with the Student Enrollment and Resources Council and the President’s Cabinet. The group discussed a) potentially adopting a new college-wide service standard (sustainability), b) the upcoming AQIP site visit in February, and c) the fall board oft meeting.
And, as always, council members and consultants regularly presented updates from the departments and constituents they represent.
