Art in Paris

Central's summer program in Paris offers students of every language level the opportunity to learn - or even improve - their language skills while experiencing first-hand the diverse art collections of one of the world's leading cultural centers.

Courses
Open to all students, no matter your major or level of French. Classes run Monday through Friday with two sessions per day. Morning sessions focus on learning and practicing spoken and written French. Afternoons are dedicated to learning about the city’s glorious art and monuments—looking at examples from Gothic to the modern period—with regular visits to the galleries, museums and buildings that adorn France’s capital. Afternoon sessions are taught in English.

Location
Paris is one of Europe’s most culturally diverse and arts rich cities, making for an enriching and varied summer experience.  Experience Paris city life alongside Parisians and other international students, absorbing the language and culture both at work and play.  There will be opportunities to explore the city’s many attractions and to travel to regions such as Normandy, the Loire valley and even to the south at weekends.

Housing and Meals
Live in the heart of the city alongside other international students in a Parisian foyer (residence hall). Rooms are single or double, and foyers include living areas, libraries and study spaces with internet connection. Meals are not included, but shop local markets and cook with new friends in your foyer's communal kitchen.

Excursions
Explore Paris' many iconic museums and galleries such as the Louvre (home to the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milos), Musée de l'Orangerie (impressionist and post-impressionist art), Musée d’Orsay (French impressionist art), Pompidou Center (modern and contemporary art), and Picasso Museum.

You won't leave Paris without experiencing Notre Dame Cathedral, the Palace of Versailles and other historical sites. Also included in your program fee, you'll take day trips to Chartres and Giverny; a boat trip on the Seine; and spend an evening at the Paris opera or ballet.

The four-week program fee includes:
